Speaking & Conversations

Some conversations change the room. Not because they're loud, but because they finally say what everyone in the audience has been carrying alone.

I speak about the complicated, deeply human experience of rebuilding life after it changes — the questions that emerge, the identity shifts that follow, and the quiet process of finding your footing again.

My talks are grounded in lived experience, reflective storytelling, and the emotional realities people often carry privately through caregiving, grief, burnout, reinvention, aging, and unexpected life transitions. What I offer is not quick answers or forced positivity, but language, recognition, and a steadier way to think about what people are already living through.

I speak with healthcare and caregiving organizations, community groups, universities, wellness programs, literary events, podcasts, and support communities. If this work feels aligned with your audience, I’d love to hear from you.

Short Bio

Mary Monoky is a writer and speaker who coined the term The Long Middle — the space between life-changing disruption and the life that follows. With a Master of Social Work (MSW) and decades of lived experience navigating chronic illness and reinvention, she writes and speaks about identity, resilience, caregiving, and the quiet process of rebuilding life after it changes.

I don’t speak in scripts. I speak in stories — grounded, real, and lived.
