Field Note: August 5,2025- What the Dog Knows That I Don't

The dog knows when the sun hits the floor just right—soft, warm, slow—and that nothing else needs doing but being in it. She moves through the day with presence, joy, and patience I often forget to practice.

She notices the little things: the mail truck three houses away, a loved one ten steps from the door. She naps without guilt. Eats without distraction. Comes close when she senses sadness, not to fix it, but simply to be there.

I’m learning from her quiet example: that today is enough just because it’s today, and that presence can be its own reward.

Field Note: Share this with someone who could use a gentle reminder to slow down and simply be.
